Sharp Memorial School, established in the year 1887 - the first school for the Blind in India - is situated at the foothills of Himalayas some 270 kms North of New Delhi. Hostel Based Institution with blind children from all over North India. With the assistance of CBM (www.cbm.org) it has moved to integrated education. A Low Vision tertiary centre is established by CBM for stocking of Low Vision non-optical devices and accessories as well as for technical assessment and rehabilitation of Low Vision Children. Computer training, Home economics and Music are part of the curriculum. Vocational training also is being taught. Low Vision training is imparted to teachers from all over India and abroad. It also works as a study centre for imparting special education in Visual Impairment.

 

More than half the running costs of the institution are presently provided through the Bartimaeus Charitable Trust, Registered Charity Number 1077876.
